Today, the unit I work in got to collect the 'infamous' green wire 'den' I have been eyeing up in the Infants Department for some time now for a trial period in the unit. Yes, this excites me too.

There was a great over-enthusiastic mission to get said den from a to b.

...using child-proof scissors to detach the cable ties.

...in a hail storm.

And in all this excitement I didn't take a picture and I got the hiccups.

So here is an anti-climatic picture of the den.

Peggy has wheel issues! 

You may be bemused to find out that African Pgymy hedgehogs need lots of exercise and use 12" (29cm) 'hamster' wheels throughout the night. They poo as they run (and keep running!) which is waiting for me to clean in the morning! (lovely) Well drama this morning! Her wheel fell off and broke :( sad times for Peggy.

A lovely afternoon spent with my old school friend reliving old times, catching up on life, 
eating Fish and Chips...
(I was so overly excited by getting Fish for the first time after always ordering a chicken burger from there in my childhood I didn't take a picture of the mahoosive serving! Doh!) 
and then having a 'homemade' pineapple ice cream sundae!

Peggy makes Play dough

Here is a useful recipe to make play dough that lasts!

...with the help from a little hedgehog called Peggy.

First off forage for your ingredients and equipment:

(this 'how to' is not sponsored by Sainsburys!)

Now for the human to do the cooking bit! 

Scamper over the dough and knead until smooth- 
here you can add food colouring if desired!

Hey Presto!

Long-lasting play dough, great for children to develop fine motor skills and for sensory fun!

Here are some ideas:
 

Check out these (laminated) play dough mats- they are brilliant- twinkl have a huge range for all different topics!

Dough Disco: put on some tunes and manipulate the dough to the beat. This woman has definitely been taking something but this is the idea! You could add glitters and sequins to the dough and even some essential oils! Its great fun for kids, strengthens fingers for better pencil grip and gives sensory feedback- great for children with Autism!

Play dough Pictionary: 

Instead of drawing the 'thing', model it out of dough: for kids use simple nouns.

 It's exhausting, zombifyed days like these when this project comes into it's own. 
Its hard to find 'happys' so you have to make them! 
And instead of feeling low and dejected I have made myself calm and happier by rooting around for some stress relief!

 A Mishmash of perks not in any order:
1. A relaxing hot bath to ease the tension and Youtube vlogger watching- I love 'Sprinkle of Glitter', there I said it! She's hilarious and so lovable and I see alot of her in me.

2. Tea and cake- my saving grace when I get home from work.

3. And today being 'voting day' in the UK thankfully the polling station is next to a Waitrose-
cue unnecessary exciting new dessert discovery!

4. In the post today came by order of 'The Mousehole Cat'. A beautiful animation based on a picture book about a fisherman who takes his loyal cat, Mowzer with him to brave the stormy seas to catch fish, the storm is illustrated as the Storm Cat and Mowzer calms the storm with her 'tuneful' pur.
It's one of those nostalgic childhood cartoons that has to be reviewed however old I am!
And possibly if your huge Cat-lover!

A child tried insulting me with some back-chat, in a very out-of-character Eastender's accent and said: 

'your FACE looks like your FACE!'...

I don't know if it flattered me or was meant to make me shudder...i'll remember that remark next time when I need a good comeback!

- if your not a Mirfanda then you won't get that.
 
A productive morning bathing the hoglet and trimming her claws much to her disapproval! 
Then off to eat my weight in food with the gang 
mmm...sweet potato fries :p
 ...and was very impressed with their loo: copper sink, victorian pully, not to mention the hand dryer! 
Yes, I'm easily impressed.
